The Long Weekend is for people of all ages from Anglican parishes across Melbourne.
More than just a few days out of town… The Long Weekend offers three days of exciting activities, inspiring worship, and great opportunities for learning and discovery.
Aims
The Long Weekend has two aims
- To bring together young people and families from Anglican congregations without the resources to organise substantial events on their own
- To offer resources and ideas for working with children, youth and families for people in parishes not currently served by existing ministries in the Diocese of Melbourne
Background
All rejoice in the success of youth and families ministry in various key parishes around Melbourne. Many congregations, however, are ill equipped to offer similar ministry to children and young adults. Some approaches simply resonate less successfully in different theological and liturgical settings. Others have proven hard to transfer to smaller congregations. Many churches simply have too few young people to think of organising such events with confidence. Others parishes again simply lack the volunteer and organisational capacity to take on the task.
The Long Weekend promises to be a enjoyable and exciting experience for people of all ages.
